Vanitas Pen Stand

Vanitas (Latin meaning 'vanity') is a form of art that uses symbolism to illustrate the transience of life, the futility of pleasure, and the finality of death. The paintings included still life images of ephemera. The genre began in the 16th century and continued into the 17th century. Vanitas art is a form of allegorical art that represents a higher ideal.

We presented symbolic elements by creating a composition in our pen stand, which we designed with the influence of this art movement.
Butterfly emerging from the cocoon: It expresses the shortness of our life adventure that begins with birth.

The clock at the bottom; Books represent time and knowledge and learning. On the other page, it refers to learning the violin and inkwell, literature and art. Music is also closely associated with worldly pleasures.
The hourglass also expresses the transience and limitation of time.
The reflecting sphere is the symbol of the world and worldly power.
We ended these symbols in a certain composition with the phrase Memento Mori “remember that you are mortal”.
